How to Be Safe This Halloween

|

With Halloween coming up, it’s important to make sure your kids have a fun time Trick-or-Treating, but also to make sure they’re safe throughout the night.

Plan a Route

Don’t go in blind when starting your Trick-or-Treat route. Set up which neighborhoods you’ll be going to and try to stick with the familiar ones. Map it out before so you don’t get lost and so the kids don’t have to walk all around.

Wear Reflective Accessories

It’s important to keep in mind that it’s getting dark out earlier. Have your kids put on glow in the dark wristbands or necklaces. This way, they’re visible to cars still driving on the road and bikers.

Give Them a Phone

If your kids are old enough to go by themselves, make sure they have their own phone or someone else in the group has a phone with them. This way you can still keep track of where they are and around what time they’ll be home. If your kids are still too young to have a phone, make sure you have one when you go with them.

Check Their Candy Before Eating It

When going through your child’s bag, there are a few things you need to throw out. Any torn, ripped, or open bags of candy need to be thrown away. Make sure they’re sealed and look like they came straight from the package. Although homemade treats are sometimes the best, don’t let your kid eat it on Halloween. Stick to the store bought candies.
